Junior Achievement USA is the nation's largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices. Junior Achievement’s programs; in the core content areas of work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy ignite the spark in young people to experience and realize the opportunities and realities of work and life in the 21st century.
Primary Responsibilities:
Directs a major Junior Achievement area as chief executive officer within policies established by the statewide Board of Directors, which board members are from Lawrence, KS, Topeka, KS and Wichita, KS area boards. Responsible for all planning, finance, fundraising, classroom programming, public relations, marketing, staff development, and administrative operations.
• Committed to advancing JA’s mission with the community, serving as a passionate advocate.
• Assures the financial stability of the Junior Achievement operation to support operational and strategic plans and sustainability of the organization including the development and implementation of effective fund-raising campaigns and other innovative approaches to raising funds, accurate and timely financial reporting, analysis of financial information; responsible for year-end audit and 990; development of a budget and management of financial resources to meet all organizational objectives.
• Develops and implements strategic plans that assure the stability and growth of JA in the Area within the context of the internal and external market forces and regulations.
• Represent JA of Kansas in all districts including the district director role responsibilities in either Lawrence, Topeka, or Wichita. The President is accountable for all duties of a District Director, including the accountability for all fundraising efforts.
• Coordinate events in the area district; including scheduling, location, securing sponsorships, communications, etc., while supporting all events to the finish line.
• Works with the Board of Directors to develop policy and ensure proper governance.
• Works with the Chairman of the Board of Directors to recruit, orient, and encourage engagement of Board members; manage effective regular meetings with the Board including the development of the agenda and any reports and materials.
• Accurately projects staffing requirements; recruits, hires, and trains associates; manages staff performance to assure achievement of all goals and objectives.
• Manages implementation of all programs and ensures programs are executed within acceptable standards to assure growth in student impact.
• Participates in preparing and reviewing grant applications and requests.
• Prepares, gains Board approval, and implements a public awareness plan and acts as a representative with governmental, political, community, civic and industry groups.
• Assures that Junior Achievement operates in compliance with all requirements of the Junior Achievement Operating Agreement and additional requirements established by the Board.
• Assists with special events as needed and attends each special event on behalf of the organization.
• Establishes all marketing for the organization including e-newsletter, social media, press releases, website, and blog updates, interacting with the media, appearing on TV and radio on behalf of the organization.
Other duties as requested by the Board of Directors.
Qualifications (required)
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience
• Four years’ experience in a related field with a successful track record
• Excellent management, communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to undergo criminal and credit background check
